DCV Aegir is a Deep Water Construction Vessel being built for Heerema Marine Contractors.
In December 2010, Heerema Marine Contractors announced that the Deep Water Construction Vessel being built in South Korea is to be named Aegir.[2] Huisman are providing the cranes, tower and reels. The vessel is expected complete trials by mid-2013.[1]
The vessel will be equipped for J-lay and reel pipelaying, with a payload of 4,500 metric tons.[1] A crane will have a lift capacity of 4,000 metric tons and lowering equipment will reach a depth of 3,500 meters. The vessel will be equipped with class 3 dynamic positioning system.
The monohull is designed for fast transit speed and optimum motion characteristics in operation.[1] The vessel will accommodate 289 persons.
